Introduction

The Prayagraj Mela Authority, in collaboration with the Department of Food and Civil Supplies, was set to distribute subsidized food and essential commodities to around 1 million pilgrims visiting the Maha Kumbh Mela scheduled for January 2025. The proposed system was essential to ensure that the massive influx of pilgrims receives their allotted rations efficiently and fairly. By automating and monitoring the distribution process, the authorities minimized manual errors, prevented frauds, and ensured that supplies reach those in need promptly.

Project Objectives

Infoneo was entrusted to conceptualize, develop, and implement a web-based Public Distribution System (PDS) to digitize and streamline this critical operation within a stipulated timeline.

Our objective was to:
  • Replace the traditional manual distribution process with an end-to-end digital solution.
  • Ensure real-time tracking and auditability of ration distribution.
  • Implement a role-based access system for diverse users (officers, DEOs, FPS owners).
  • Integrate hardware such as QR scanners, QR printers, and CCTV systems across the godowns
  • Enable daily analytics, inventory tracking, and MIS reporting at all levels.
  • Ensure smooth operation despite limited internet connectivity and on-ground complexities.
